Send a dimensioned drawing with alloy, temper, finish, length, tolerances and annual quantity; agree die cost and sample approval; inspect samples before mass production; and agree packing, trade term (FOB or CIF) and inspection before shipment. Clear drawings and an approved sample prevent most problems.
| Step | What to agree |
|---|---|
| Drawing | Section, critical dimensions, tolerance standard |
| Material | Alloy and temper, material certificate |
| Finish | Type, colour, thickness, visible faces |
| Die | Cost, ownership, sample time |
| Samples | Quantity and approval criteria |
| Packing | Film, bundling, crates, labels |
| Shipping | Trade term, port, container type |
Common mistakes
Missing tolerances, no marked visible faces for coating, and no agreed sample approval. Mark critical dimensions and visible surfaces on the drawing.
Inspection
Ask for dimension reports and coating thickness readings; third-party inspection such as SGS can be arranged.
