A thermal break profile splits the aluminium frame into an inner and an outer part joined by a low-conductivity polyamide strip, cutting heat flow through the frame. With insulating glass, thermally broken windows reach whole-window U-values around 1.2–1.8 W/m²K in our range, compared with about 2.1–2.2 for standard frames.
| Standard profile | Thermal break profile | |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | Single aluminium section | Inner + outer aluminium, polyamide strip |
| Whole-window Uw (our range) | about 2.1–2.2 W/m²K | about 1.2–1.8 W/m²K |
| Dual colour | No | Yes |
| Best for | Warm climates, interiors, budget | Cold and mixed climates, energy codes |
Strip width and frame depth
Wider strips and deeper frames (for example 70 to 120 mm) insulate better and allow triple glazing.
Questions
Why are thermal break windows more expensive?
Two aluminium sections, the polyamide strip and the rolling/crimping process add cost; savings come back in energy use and comfort.
Can you supply the strip separately?
We supply complete thermal break profiles assembled in our factory.
